| Advanced equipment at our state-of-the-art
facility allows us to efficiently process and toll various forms of
aluminum scrap and dross. In addition, our experienced scrap management
team can provide a variety of options to best utilize our customers'
metal units. |
What
is scrap processing?
Scrap processing requires a thorough knowledge of the metals as well
as alloys that could make up a single piece of scrap. It takes years
of extensive training to identify metallic components by sight, but
more often by testing, such as the application of acid or other chemicals
to determine the composition of the scrap. More precise methods of
analysis and identification take place through the use of x-ray fluorescent
equipment such as spectrometers and spectrographs.Once
scrap components are identified, they are sorted into grades of metal
according to rigid specifications. Continental Aluminum recycles these
various grades into products for the steel, automotive and die casting
industries. |
